Tetra4 facilities and logistics: photograph supplied for the Virginia report. The Virginia gas project has reached another industrial milestone in South Africa’s Free State province. ASP Isotopes, Renergen’s parent company, announced on 26 October 2026 that its Tetra4 subsidiary had completed the commissioning operations required to achieve stable liquid-helium production. The company says helium is now being accumulated in cryogenic storage. This advances preparation for the first commercial deliveries and the site’s production ramp-up. Production alongside liquefied natural gas Virginia combines helium production with liquefied natural gas. The industrial targets for the first phase are approximately 2,500 gigajoules of LNG per day and 70,000 cubic feet of helium per day. Those volumes represent the intended capacity of the initial phase. They should not be treated as production levels already achieved when stabilisation was announced. Preparing deliveries and increasing output Helium is used in medical equipment, electronics and industrial applications requiring very low temperatures. Domestic production could strengthen South Africa’s participation in those supply chains. ASP...
